Study: Sustainability of innovative economic models with a focus on mobility
Car sharing, bicycle sharing, car pooling, electric scooters, bicycle couriers ... Thanks to the development of information technologies, new ways have been created in recent years to move or transport goods. Will these innovations - whether technological or organizational - solve the growing mobility problems that Belgium faces? Will they enable the realization of the climate agreements of Paris? Will they improve the quality of the air we breathe? What types of initiatives should be supported by governments and how?
To answer these questions, the Federal Council for Sustainable Development has financed a study carried out by the Transport and Mobility Leuven research bureau. The full research is published in Dutch on the website of the council (https://www.frdo-cfdd.be/nl/publicaties/other). Summaries are available in Dutch, French and English. The full text in French will appear in early March. It should be noted that this study does not represent the position of the board or its members.
The study will be presented during the event "Smooth and sustainable mobile", organized on 28 March 2019 by the FRDO-CFDD (see details and registration).
